MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University males’s and girls’s swimming and diving groups open the 2025-26 season on the Florida State University Invitational on Sept. 26-27, at Morcom Aquatics Center in Tallahassee, Florida.
The meet will happen at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, and 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27. It’s a restricted roster for every workforce competing this weekend, as there are solely 12 swimmers and three divers on every workforce which can be allowed to compete throughout the invite.
The Mountaineers enter their second season beneath head coach Brent MacDonald, following a seventh-place end by the lads’s workforce and a ninth-place end by the ladies’s workforce on the 2025 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships.
West Virginia will face Florida State, Purdue and Tampa on the lads’s facet. The Mountaineers will tackle Florida State and Rice on the ladies’s facet. Tampa, a Division II energy, was runner-up on the 2025 NCAA Division II Men’s National Championship after profitable the title in 2024.

The Mountaineers welcome 15 newcomers on the lads’s facet and 13 newcomers on the ladies’s facet after vital roster turnover throughout the offseason. The males’s workforce diving trio, made up of senior Christian Torres, junior Owen Recker and sophomore Levi Hellmann, returns after a 3rd place end on the Big 12 Championships.
Recker was the lone Mountaineer to qualify for the NCAA Championships as he turned the primary male Mountaineer diver to compete since 2021. He competed within the 3-meter and platform competitions.
