Brazil to host 3 NFL regular-season video games over subsequent 5 years

The NFL will play three regular-season video games over 5 years in Rio de Janeiro starting in 2026.

The league introduced the multiyear dedication Friday as a part of its ongoing plan to take worldwide video games to new cities around the globe.

The NFL already has performed twice in Brazil — Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles in 2024; Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1 this season — at Corinthians Arena in São Paulo. The league will now broaden throughout the nation to the long-lasting Maracanã Stadium in Rio.

The Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots and Philadelphia have worldwide advertising and marketing rights in Brazil underneath the NFL’s world markets program, which promotes model consciousness and fandom past the United States.

“Building on the success of the games in Sao Paulo, we could not be more excited to play in one of the world’s most iconic cities — Rio de Janeiro,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell mentioned in an announcement. “We look forward to working closely with our city and state partners in Rio along with the historic Maracana Stadium to deepen our ties to the tens of millions of fans in Brazil and across South America.”

The NFL has performed 56 regular-season video games internationally, with London, Mexico City, Munich, São Paulo, Toronto and Frankfurt, Germany, internet hosting video games up to now. As a part of the 2025 International Games and following the opener in São Paulo, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings will face off in Dublin on Sunday, and London, Berlin and Madrid will host video games within the coming weeks.

Also in 2026, Australia will host an NFL sport for the primary time on the Melbourne Cricket Ground within the league’s regular-season debut on the continent.
