​Shark assaults swimmer close to common California vacationer spot

A person was reportedly bitten by a shark whereas swimming a preferred route for long-distance swimmers between Catalina Island and the coast of Orange County early Tuesday morning. 

The 54-year-old was about 8 miles off the coast of common vacationer vacation spot Catalina Island as a part of a swimming competitors when he was bitten by the shark round 1:30 a.m., in response to Lyndsey Lantz, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department. 

After being bitten, the person was transferred to a ship and LAFD was alerted. 

“He was transferred to one of our local fire stations by Los Angeles County Fire and we took him to a local hospital in fair condition,” Lantz informed SFGATE. She stated the person was acutely aware and alert when he was taken for therapy. 

According to KTLA-TV, the person was bitten on his leg and foot space.
