Two space photographers earned statewide recognition as winners within the 2025 North Dakota Farm Bureau (NDFB) agriculture picture contest.

Emma Rognlien of Minot captured first place within the Lifestyle class along with her putting black-and-white picture of a younger cowboy on horseback. Titled “Pulling his weight at family branding,” the picture displays the grit and custom of ranch life on the plains.

Shana Volk of Towner took high honors within the Animals class along with her heat, light-filled {photograph} of a calf resting within the hay. Her entry, “New life, lasting legacy,” emphasizes the easy great thing about farm life and the promise carried by every new era.

Both winners will obtain $300 for his or her entries, judged from amongst 175 submissions statewide. Organizers praised the native photographers for capturing pictures that honor the day by day realities and heritage of North Dakota agriculture.

“These photos tell authentic stories about our way of life,” stated Samantha Froelich, chair of NDFB’s Promotion and Education Committee, in an announcement of the winners. “They show not only the beauty of agriculture but also the dedication and values behind it.”
