New waste assortment and recycling service begins for Phase 2 residents in October

Starting this week (Monday 29 September), we’re writing to households in Phase 2 of our new waste assortment and recycling service, which incorporates Bransgore, Fordingbridge, Ringwood, with vital details about their new collections ranging from 20 October 2025.

Each family in Phase 2 will obtain a letter tailor-made to their property, which is able to affirm their new assortment day, and the date of the primary assortment beneath the brand new service.  

Cllr Geoffrey Blunden, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Sustainability, stated: “As we prepare to begin Phase 2, I’m looking forward to us continuing to build a more efficient and environmentally responsible way of managing waste and recycling across the district.”

“Phase 1 has shown us what progress is possible. Residents have helped us collect an average of 48 tonnes of food waste each week, and we’ve seen real improvements in street cleanliness and recycling participation. These successes speak volumes about our community’s commitment to reducing waste and protecting the environment.”

“This is one of the complex operational challenges we have undertaken as a council, and we’ve listened carefully to feedback from Phase 1. Ahead of Phase 2, we have employed additional staffing, revised collection guidance for pannage areas, and updated route assessment and planning.”

“While most collections are now running smoothly, I want to sincerely thank residents who’ve experienced issues for their patience and assure them that we are committed to making things right.” 

“I am grateful to all our residents for their support and understanding as we rollout and embed these much-needed changes in, which are vital for the long improvement of our waste and recycling collection service, and environmental impact.”  

The letters despatched to Phase 2 residents may also embrace a reminder about whether or not they’ll use wheelie bins, communal bins, or sacks, for brand spanking new waste collections. For residents utilizing wheelie bins or sacks, the letter will embrace a 12-month assortment calendar to information residents by way of the primary yr of their new collections.
