The Authorities of Canada points an announcement to mark Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement

“As the solar units tonight, Jewish communities throughout Canada and around the globe will observe the start of Yom Kippur, also referred to as the Day of Atonement—the holiest day within the Jewish calendar. As one of many High Holidays, it’s a time when communities and family members come collectively for 25 hours of prayer, introspection and fasting. It’s a day to mirror, to heal, and to hope; a time when Jewish households and mates symbolically make a brand new begin within the 12 months forward, looking for forgiveness and embracing renewal.

On this Yom Kippur, as Jewish communities collect in reflection and prayer, we should confront the enduring ache of antisemitism—a hatred that has continued throughout generations and continues to threaten Jewish communities right here in Canada. Antisemitism isn’t just a Jewish situation; it’s a societal wound that impacts us all. May at the present time encourage us with the braveness to talk out, the solidarity to behave, and the resolve to construct a future free from hate.

Our federal authorities reaffirms its dedication to making sure that every one Jewish individuals on this nation are in a position to practise their faith and have a good time their tradition freely and safely, whereas working to construct a future rooted within the values of kindness, compassion, and openness.
