Russian drone kills French photojournalist, injures Kharkiv’s photographer

UKRAINE, DONETSK OBLAST, Oct. 3 — On Oct. 3, a Russian FPV drone killed French photojournalist Antoni Lallican and injured Heorgiy Ivanchenko, a photographer for the Kyiv Independent and member of the Association of Ukrainian skilled photographers (UAPP), reported 4th Heavy Mechanized Brigade. 

The Russian drone attacked Lallican and Ivanchenko in Druzhkiva in Donetsk oblast, said Sergiy Tomilenko, the pinnacle of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine. 

Tomilenko stated that Antoni Lallican had accreditation from the French Hans Lucas company for engaged on the frontline. He added that Lallican is the third French journalist killed by Russians. 

UAPP reported that medical doctors are actually working on Ivanchenko. His situation is secure, stated the 4th Heavy Mechanized Brigade. 

Antoni Lallican was a Paris-based photojournalist who labored for quite a few media shops, together with Zeit, Le Monde, Der Spiegel, and others. He has been reporting from Ukraine since 2022. In his work, Lallican targeted on social points in warfare zones worldwide. 

Heorhiy Ivanchenko is a Ukrainian photographer working freelance as a reporter for media and documentary initiatives since February 2022. 

From the primary months of the Russian invasion, he started making images for the Associated Press and the European Press Photo Agency. 

Starting in Borodianka, the place Heorhiy was born, he continued reporting alongside the entrance line: the Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, and Kherson areas. Now, his consideration is concentrated on the Donetsk area. 

In April 2023, whereas engaged on materials about Chasiv Yar, Russian troops destroyed his automotive with artillery hearth. 

As of Sept. 9, Russia has killed 130 Ukrainian journalists for the reason that starting of the full-scale invasion, reported the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine.
