Men’s Swimming & Diving Opens Up Season with First Place at CSI Kick Off Invite

Staten Island, NY – The Montclair State Men’s Swimming & Diving group opened up its 2025-26 season with a first-place end on the College of Staten Island Kick Off Invite on Saturday. They earned 226 factors and outperformed the host Dolphins (121) and Ramapo (80).

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Red Hawks opened with a victory within the 200-freestyle relay by (1:27.23). The quartet consisted of BOBBY FREECE, PETER JARZAB, MICHAEL WOJCIECHOWICZ, and MAX SMILEVSKI.
• MICHAEL SALVATORI doubled up with wins within the 200 IM (1:58.75) and 400 IM (4:19.06), whereas VINCENT TERZO added third within the 200 IM (2:05.18).
• In the sprints, Freece swept the 50 free (21.98) and 100 free (48.26), with Jarzab second within the 50 free (22.35) and Wojciechowicz third within the 100 free (49.45).
• Montclair noticed a top-three standing within the 200 free, led by Freece’s win (1:47.02), Smilevski second (1:49.05), and DARREN ROCKWELL third (1:53.00).
• Terzo took second within the 1000 free (10:18.86), with Salvatori third (10:32.09).
• Jarzab received the 100 fly (51.88), whereas ADRIAN GONZALEZ positioned third (53.24).
• FILIP SALEK captured the 200 breast (2:14.93), joined by JORDAN LEDBETTER in third (2:18.51).
• MASON DRANCHAK completed second within the 100 again (56.32) and Salvatori was runner-up within the 200 again (1:56.82).
• The Red Hawks additionally claimed the 400-medley relay (3:38.41) and positioned second within the 200-medley relay (1:42.37).
• Jarzab notched one other victory within the 200 fly (1:59.95), with Gonzalez third (2:04.95).
• In the 100 breast, MATT DETTLINGER was second (1:01.95) and Salek third (1:02.30).
• Terzo touched second within the 500 free (4:56.00) and ALEX PASQUINI third (5:06.55).

“I am very happy with how today went. Swimming two sessions (am and pm) is a first for this program and will make us ready for the season.
