RDU delays | As authorities shutdown extends, so do worries about airline journey

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) — As the federal government shutdown extends into day 7, there are rising issues over the impacts on journey.

ABC11 was capable of attain the management tower at RDU, and employees stated they’re absolutely staffed with no callouts impacting the flight tower.

But the longer the shutdown goes on it’s all the time one thing at the back of their thoughts.

Some passengers touchdown at RDU say touring throughout the shutdown they had been fearful concerning the potential for delays.

As callouts have already reached locations like Burbank and different airports, nationwide air visitors controller union representatives are calling for finish to the shutdown.

“We need to bring this shutdown to a close so that the federal aviation administration and the committed aviation safety professionals can put this distraction behind us and focus on their vital work,” says NATCA President Nick Daniels.

In an announcement the FAA is warning, “there have been increased staffing shortages across the system. When that happens, the FAA slows traffic into some airports to ensure safe operations.”

Back at RDU, passengers expressing their thanks for work individuals do conserving issues working.

“I’ve done a couple years working at an airport so I know what they’re going through,” says Joe Pascual.

“Especially working for free, I don’t know who would work for free honestly but you know some people have to passion to do it,” stated passenger Daniel Cortes.

And say their largest concern is for the TSA brokers and people working exhausting even when issues are out of their management.

“Keep your heads up keep doing everything with a smile and hopefully we get this resolved as soon as possible,” Pascual says.
