Virginia Sweeps ACC Field Hockey Weekly Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Virginia midfielder Emma Watchilla was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week for area hockey, whereas Cavaliers’ midfielder Madison Orsi was chosen because the ACC Defensive Player of the Week for matches performed between September 29-October 5.
 
Emma Watchilla, Jr., Forward, Virginia (Kingston, Pa.)

• Scored the game-winning objective in Virginia’s 1-0 double-overtime win over No. 9 Duke.
• Logged three pictures on objective, touchdown the ultimate one behind the web.
• The objective was her first game-winning objective of the season.
• Helped the Cavaliers stay undefeated on the season, going 9-0 general and 5-0 in ACC play.

 
Madison Orsi, Sr., Midfield, Virginia (Downington, Pa.)

• Led the Cavaliers to their fifth shutout of the season and fourth shutout of a ranked opponent.
• Anchored the backline to help goalkeeper Nilou Lempers within the shutout win.
• The Cavaliers’ protection solely allowed two pictures on objective.

 
Noting ACC Field Hockey

• Wake Forest and Virginia stay undefeated in ACC play by means of three weeks.
• Six groups are represented within the Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches’ Poll, together with 5 groups ranked within the prime 10.
• The ACC’s six ranked groups are probably the most of any convention.
• Entering Week 6 of the sector hockey season, 5 of the highest 10 groups within the RPI rankings hail from the ACC, led by No. 1 North Carolina and No. 2 Virginia.
• As a league, the ACC boasts the highest general and non-conference RPI.
