Herron Named MVC Girls’s Swimmer of the Week.

CARBONDALE, Ill. – For a second straight week, a Saluki has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Women’s Swimmer of the Week. After Liseska Gallegos Gutierrez claimed the title final week, Olivia Herron earned the consideration Wednesday morning, the convention introduced.

“Olivia is picking up where she left off from her junior year, All-American and MVC championship season,” says head coach Geoff Hanson. “She put in great work during the summertime and has established herself as one of the best swimmers in the NCAA. This is just the beginning of a huge senior campaign for her.”

Herron is coming off a profitable weekend in Chicagoland. Versus UIC on Friday, Herron got here in first place within the 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard breaststroke, and 100-yard butterfly. Then, on Saturday in a tri-meet towards Northwestern and Miami (OH), Herron got here in first within the 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard breaststroke and 200-yard IM. She was additionally a part of a podium end within the 200-yard medley relay. Currently, Herron sits top-16 nationally within the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard IM. This is Herron’s seventh time being named MVC Women’s Swimmer of the Week in her profession.

 

Herron and Southern are again in motion on October 24 and 25 once they journey to Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, for a ladies’s meet versus Illinois and Illinois State.
