Four Mustangs Set To Take On ITA Regional Championships

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (SMU) – Four SMU Men’s Tennis gamers are set to tackle the ITA Texas Regional Championships in College Station, Texas, on Friday by Monday.

Jerry Barton, Trevor Svajda, Alex Finkelstein and Georgi Georgiev will head to Texas A&M for a ticket to the NCAA Individual Championships.

The Mustangs will all play each the singles and doubles attracts. Svajda will pair up with Georgiev, whereas Barton will pair with Finkelstein within the doubles bracket.

The ITA will maintain 13 regional championships, and two singles finalists from every area (26) will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship. Meanwhile, the doubles champion from every area (13) will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship.

Mustangs within the ITA Preseason Rankings

Trevor Svajda, Alex Finkelstein and Georgi Georgiev have been ranked within the ITA Preseason Rankings.

Svajda and Finkelstein have been ranked No. 22 and 69 within the singles rankings, respectively.

Svajda and Georgiev broke into the rankings at No. 34 within the doubles rankings.

NCAA Individual Championships

In 2024, Trevor Svajda was the one Mustang to compete within the NCAA Singles Championship. He fell within the spherical of 32 of the event.
