TEMPE, Ariz.—Six members of the University of Hawai’i males’s tennis crew will likely be heading to Tempe, Ariz. to compete within the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) Southwest Regionals beginning this week. The six-day event runs from Thursday, Oct. 16-Tuesday, Oct. 21 on the Kiwanis Tennis Courts. Representing the Rainbow Warriors are Sixty fifth-ranked Azuma Visaya, Adriana Dzhenev, Timothy Li, Toa Maeda, Kent Mueller and Kosuke Nakanishi.

Visaya leads the Rainbow Warriors into this weekend with a 4-2 fall file. He gained four-straight singles matches to seize the Big West Fall Invite earlier this month. Visaya enters the Regionals with a 4-2 fall file. Timothy Li  is second on the crew carrying a 4-4 fall record–including successful his final three-straight matches. Both Kent Mueller and Kosuke Nakanishi have a 3-3 file, whereas Adriano Dzhenev comes into the week with a 2-0 mark and Toa Maeda enters the Regionals at 1-1.

In doubles, the UH duo of Li and Mueller leads UH into the Regionals with a 2-0 fall file, whereas Dzhenev and Maeda enter the week with a 2-2 file collectively. 

 

Each of the 2025 ITA Men’s Division I Regional Championships can have a draw measurement of the next, (Singles: Minimum of 64 Main Draw, Minimum of 64 Qualifying) (Doubles: Minimum of 32 Main Draw, Minimum of 32 Qualifying). From this, the two singles finalists from every area (26) will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship. Meanwhile, the doubles champion from every area (13) will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship. Selection standards and acceptable draw measurement variations for every of the 2025 Men’s Regional Championships will likely be launched later this season.
