Swimming & Diving Battles TCU in House Opener – Texas A&M Athletics

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M swimming & diving program hosts the TCU Horned Frogs in its house opener on Friday on the Rec Center Natatorium. Diving begins at 12:45 p.m. whereas the swimming competitors begins at 2 p.m. 

The Aggies’ annual matchup with the Horned Frogs comes with a twist this season – a rock-paper-scissor battle determines if the lads’s or ladies’s groups are competing first after which the races will probably be contested within the order they’re drawn out of a hat. 

The meet begins with the 200-yard medley relay, adopted by a to-be-determined order of the 1,000 freestyle, 200 free, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 50 free heading to the break after which 100 free, 200 again, 200 breast, 100 fly and 200 IM after the intermission. The groups shut out the meet with the five hundred free and 200 free relay.  

 

“We’re excited about getting to compete in our home pool in front of the 12th Man, and the format of the meet should add a bit of fun,” Texas A&M director of swimming & diving Blaire Anderson mentioned. “TCU is a competitive program year-in and year-out, and our team will be seeing a lot of familiar faces on the Horned Frogs roster, which always creates a great college dual meet environment. I was encouraged by the way we raced at the USC Invitational last weekend and I thought we had some solid performances against some of the nation’s top swimmers.” 

 

The Aggies opened the 2025-26 season final weekend with a robust displaying on the USC Invitational in Los Angeles, highlighted by a number of NCAA qualifying marks and quite a few top-five finishes. Junior switch Ava Whitaker led the Aggie ladies with NCAA cuts in each the 100 butterfly (52.39) and 200 butterfly (1:56.09), incomes a pair of runner-up finishes, whereas junior Roberto Bonilla Flores met the NCAA customary within the males’s 200 breaststroke (1:54.82) to take second.  

 

Fifth-year senior Munzy Kabbara added two second-place efforts within the 200 IM (1:45.45) and 400 IM (3:46.75), and freshman diver Emilio Trevino impressed with third-place finishes on each the 1-meter (307.75) and 3-meter (367.35) boards. Other prime performances included Kaitlyn Owens (third, 100 again; fifth, 50 free), Giulia Goerigk (prime 5 in three occasions), Rachel Love (second, 1,650 free) and Batuhan Filiz (third, 1,650 free).
