CHICAGO, Ill. – Illinois State swim and dive fell 221-78 to UIC Friday afternoon at Flames Natatorium. 

Freshman Ava Ostendorf secured two occasion victories for the Redbirds in Friday’s meet. Ostendorf secured the primary occasion win for the Redbirds within the 100 Y Breast with a season-best mark of 1:06.82. Sophomore Hailey Fris tallied a fourth-place end with a season-fastest time of 1:08.13. Ostendorf picked up her second occasion win within the 200 Y Breast with a time of two:26.24 

The Redbirds picked up a runner-up end within the 400 Y Medley relay with the ‘A’ squad of Tyler, Fris, Turken, and Dameworth with a time of three:57.63 to open the day within the swimming occasions. 

Sophomore Hope Westphal earned a third-place end within the 1000 Y Free with a season-best mark of 10:55.40. Senior Maya Burkstrand tallied a season-best time in a fourth-place effort with a mark of 11:06.82. 

Sophomore Amelia Murphy secured a podium end in a third-place effort with a time of 1:58.62 within the 200 Y Free. Junior Sylvia Admire earned a season-best time of 1:59.93 in a fourth-place end. 

Senior Chloe Tyler recorded a runner-up end within the 100 Y Back with a time of 57.96. Senior Delaney Boulden secured a season-best mark of 5.439 to complete fifth. Tyler would add one other podium end within the 200 Y Back with a third-place end after recording a mark of two:09.08 

Senior Giulia Basco notched one other podium end for the Redbirds with a third-place effort after recording a  time of two:06.79 

Senior Ella Turken earned a podium end after ending third within the 100 Y with a time of 59.13. 

To shut out the meet, the Redbirds earned a runner-up end within the 200 Y Free relay with the ‘A’ squad of Dameworth, Kieffel, Tyler, and Turken. 

From the diving boards, Sophomore Emma Thompson secured a podium end with a rating of 237.53 within the 1-meter dive.
