Tanko Set for Swimming World Cup Occasions – College of Nebraska

Nebraska’s Beatrix Tanko will represent Hungary at the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup in Westmont, Ill., this weekend.

Tanko, a junior from Budapest, opens her competitive weekend in the women’s 50-meter freestyle heats at 11:51 a.m. (CT) on Friday. Tanko, who earned the No. 22 seed in the event, will swim in the last heat of the morning in the 50m free with hopes of earning a spot in Friday night’s finals at 7:03 p.m. (CT).

Tanko is also set to compete in the 50-meter butterfly as the No. 15 seed beginning Saturday at 10 a.m. (CT). The 50 fly finals are set for Saturday at 7:05 p.m. (CT).

Sunday’s races also begin at 10 a.m. (CT) for Tanko with the 100-meter butterfly. She enters the 100 fly competition as the No. 14 seed with finals set in that event for 6:25 p.m. (CT) on Sunday.

She will wrap up her stay at the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup by competing in the 100-meter freestyle as the No. 31 seed. The 100m heats also begin at 10 a.m. on Sunday with the finals set for 7:05 p.m. (CT).

Nebraska Associate Head Coach Patrick Rowan is accompanying Tanko to the event as part of the Hungarian contingent.
