Obituary for Robert W. Kollra Jr.

Robert W. Kollra Jr. (“Mr. K”) handed away peacefully, surrounded by love, on Friday, October seventeenth. He was the beloved son of the late Robert W. and Romayne Cadden Kollra.

Robert is survived by his longtime companion, Grace Catalano, and was preceded in loss of life by her daughter, Theresa, whom he liked as household. He can also be survived by his son Robert Kollra and spouse Elizabeth of Abingdon, MD; his daughter Kimberly Benjamin and husband Bruce of Archbald; and his best joys — his three grandsons, Noah and Chase Benjamin, and Samuel Robert Kollra; in addition to his former spouse and good friend, Roberta Castle; and plenty of nieces and nephews.

A proud graduate of Scranton Central High School, Robert went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Scranton. His lifelong profession started along with his very first job at Mueller Family McDonald’s, the place he discovered not simply work, however a calling. Over the years, “Mr. K” grew to become a mentor to numerous younger folks, educating them the worth of duty, teamwork, and pleasure of their work — all the time reminding them, “If there’s time to lean, there’s time to clean.”

Robert’s dedication to his neighborhood ran deep. He spent a few years teaching at Marvin Dutch Gap Little League and serving as Treasurer for the North Scranton Vikings Football group.
