The Mayor of Haringey Councillor Ahmed Mahbub has pinned on his poppy in help of the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal and urged different residents to do the identical.

The Poppy Appeal runs till Remembrance Day and cash raised goes in direction of the Royal British Legion’s welfare and benevolent work in help of serving and ex-service individuals and their households.

Cllr Mahbub says:

“As we approach Remembrance Day, I encourage everyone in Haringey to wear a poppy with pride and to support the Royal British Legion. The poppy is a powerful symbol of remembrance and hope, honouring those who gave their lives in service and those who continue to serve today. By wearing the poppy and contributing to the Poppy Appeal, we show our gratitude and help provide vital support to veterans and their families. Together, let us remember and ensure their sacrifices are never forgotten.”

Poppies and donation containers may be present in Haringey’s libraries, and on the reception desk of Alexandra House and George Meehan House.

Remembrance Sunday, 9 November

  • 10:45am Wood Green War Memorial, reverse Haringey Civic Centre, High Road, Wood Green.
  • 10:45am Tottenham War Memorial, Tottenham Town Hall, Town Hall Approach Road, Tottenham. This shall be preceded by a 9.30am service at Holy Trinity Church, Philip Lane, Tottenham.

  • 10:45am native schoolchildren, clergy and residents will collect on the War Memorial within the Garden of Remembrance at Tottenham Cemetery, White Hart Lane, N17.
