Swimming & Diving Heads to Dallas for Twin with SMU Mustangs – Texas A&M Athletics

DALLAS – The Texas A&M swimming & diving workforce faces the SMU Mustangs in a two-day twin meet on Friday and Saturday on the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center on the SMU campus. The meet begins at 3 p.m. on Friday and continues at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

On Friday, the groups contest the 400 medley relay, 400 IM, 200 freestyle, 50 free, 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke and the 800 free relay on Friday, adopted by the 200 medley relay, 500 free, 200 breast, 200 again, 100 free, 200 fly, 200 IM and the 200 free relay on Saturday. There might be springboard diving occasions on each days.


“SMU will offer a strong challenge for us, and I’m expecting a great college dual meet on Friday and Saturday,” second-year Aggie director of swimming & diving Blaire Anderson mentioned. “They’ve already had a couple of ACC swimmers and divers of the week, and they have a lot of talent on their rosters. I’m excited to see how we respond to the challenge. We’ve competed well in our two meets so far, and I’m looking to see if we can take the next step against some really good competition in Dallas.”


The Maroon & White had a robust displaying at their residence opener final weekend towards TCU, with quite a few Aggies having a number of first place victories. Sophomore Ella McQuinn, junior Halina Panczyszyn, and junior Hannah O’Leary led the way in which for the ladies’s workforce. McQuinn gained the 100 free in 49.46 and the 200 free in 1:48.48. Panczyszyn posted wins within the 100 backstroke (53.01) and the 200 backstroke (1:57.00). O’Leary completed first within the 200 backstroke (2:11.36) and 200 IM (1:59.35).

Grabbing a number of first place victories for the lads’s squad have been junior Roberto Bonilla Flores, sophomore Ben Sytsma, freshman Bucky Gettys and freshman Emilio Trevino. Bonilla Flores gained the 100 breaststroke (53.77) and the 200 breaststroke (1:54.99). Sytsma swept the rostrum 50 and 100 free in 20.06 and 43.91, respectively. Gettys completed first within the 500 free in 4:24.44 and the 1,000 free in 9:06.37. Trevino swept the rostrum within the 1- and 3- meter dives with scores of 346.28 and 370.58, respectively.
