Ohio Swim and Dive leads Buffalo and Marshall in Season Opening Tri-Meet

ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio swimming and diving crew opened the 2025-26 season on Friday afternoon (Oct. 24), taking over MAC opponent Buffalo University, and Marshall University in a tri-meet occasion. The Bobcats end day one with a rating of 121.00-46.00 versus Marshall and 107.00-60.00 versus Buffalo, taking the lead heading into day two.

 In the 1000-yard free, freshman Katrina Kollin (Dublin, Ohio) positioned fourth with a time of 10:14.77, and senior Anna McGrath (Lewis Center, Ohio) positioned fifth with a time of 10:18.93.

The Bobcats had three top-five finishers within the 200-yard IM, with senior Emily Ellsworth (Westerville, Ohio) ending in second with a time of two:02.96, freshman Juliette Daigneault (Scottsdale, Ariz.) ending in third place with a time of two:03.12, and freshman Jana Macik (Aldie, Va.) ending in fifth place with a time of two:05.72.

Senior Casadie DiBetta (St. Clairsville, Ohio) took the first-place end within the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of two:11.51. Ellsworth additionally completed within the prime 5 with a time of two:17.51, putting fourth.

Ohio had 4 finishers within the top-five within the 200-yard backstroke, with the Bobcats taking the primary three spots. Sophomore Juliana Slaninka (Mentor, Ohio) completed in first place with a time of 1:58.58, freshman Lily Baumgartner (Ada, Ohio) completed in second place with a time of 1:59.51, junior Melanie Schweikert (Maineville, Ohio) completed in third with a time of 1:59.60, and senior Morgan Brown (Fort Wayne, Ind.) positioned fifth with a time of two:01.71.

In the 200-yard butterfly, Macik was the highest Bobcat finisher, putting second with a time of 1:59.07.

The Bobcats swept the highest 4 spots within the 100-yard free, with Szoke being the highest finisher for Ohio with a time of 48.03. Wittenburg completed in second with a time of fifty.67, junior Katie Buroker (Zionsville, Ind) completed in third place with a time of 51.03, and Claypoole completed with a time of 51.18.
