Keydets get three occasion wins towards Wildcats

LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Women’s Swimming & Diving had loads of positives in its first residence meet towards Davidson on Saturday.
 
The Keydets ended the meet with a 212-82 loss to the Wildcats.
 
“I am incredibly proud of our team for the effort they gave in the pool and on the boards today,” says VMI Swimming Head Coach Scott Thacker. “Carissa [Witte], Lacy [Delzell], and Noelle [Tong] picking up event wins is absolutely incredible. The women are really coming together as a group, and I am proud of them.”
 
Freshman Lacy Delzell led the best way with a record-breaking mark within the 200 Free (1:56.66), smashing her earlier file she set earlier within the yr. Delzell later earned gold within the 200 Back (2:09.22).
 
Senior Noelle Tong began her afternoon with a third-place end within the 100 Back (1:01.44) earlier than scoring first within the 100 Free (54.00).
 
Freshman Carissa Witte flew to victory within the 200 Fly (2:11.27) and later grabbed second place within the 200 IM (2:14.39).
 
The 200 Medley Relay staff with Tong, Parker Belle Fogle, Emerson Cosner, and Mackenzie Byrne scored second (1:51.71), whereas the 200 Free Relay squad with Byrne, Tong, Witte, and Delzell additionally tallied second (1:40.72).
 
On the boards, sophomore Isabelle Haer led the Keydets with 207.45 factors on the three-meter, adequate for fourth, adopted by a 168.53 rating on the one-meter for fifth.
 
“Both squads are undeniably heading in the right direction, and it has been a lot of fun to watch them work, race, and dive this season,” continues Thacker. “The focus over the next few weeks is our tri-meet with Howard and UMBC, and then onto our invite.”
