KAILUA, Hawaii – No. 6 Auburn women’s golf sits in fourth place through two rounds at The Nanea Invitational at Nanea Golf Club in Kailua, Hawaii. The Tigers shot 6-over 298 on Tuesday for a 36-hole total of 569 (-15). Auburn junior Anna Davis leads the individual field by two strokes heading into Wednesday’s final round at 10-under 136.

“The story was different today,” said Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen. “It’s difficult to post a low round after a super-low round, and our young team felt that pressure today. The course played a stroke and a half more difficult than yesterday due to challenging hole locations. The group was disappointed in the performance, but this will test their resilience and ability to bounce back tomorrow.”

Davis followed up her stellar opening-round 66 (-7), which included eight birdies, with a 3-under 70 in her second round. She recorded four birdies on Tuesday, including two on par-5s. The Auburn junior leads Cindy Hsu of Texas and Kelly Xu of Stanford by two strokes entering the final day.

“Anna played very solid and smart golf,” Luellen said. “It was nice to see that birdie post on her final hole. She has been very patient and playing carefree golf. It’s working!”

Auburn surrendered its 18-hole lead after a record-breaking 21-under 271 on Monday. The Tigers now trail tournament leader No. 21 Arizona State by seven shots and top-ranked Stanford by six, while holding a 12-shot advantage over the two teams tied for fifth place.

After firing a season-low 65 (-8) on Monday, freshman Charlotte Cantonis carded a 2-over 75 on Tuesday. Her 36-hole total of 140 (-6) places her in a tie for fourth individually.

Sophomores Balma Dávalos and Anne Fernandez each turned in a 77 (+4) in round two. Both are tied for 29th place on the individual leaderboard. Molly Brown Davidson contributed a counting score for Auburn on Tuesday with a 76 (+3). After starting her round 3-over through three holes, she played even par the rest of the way.

Auburn will begin the final round of The Nanea Invitational on Wednesday with a 12:30 p.m. CT shotgun start. Live scoring will be available at scoreboard.clippd.com.
