Special Collections & Archives brings collectively traditional literature and Halloween enjoyable with “A Gothic Romance Event”

Continuing spooky season on campus and solely two days after the success of Project Pumpkin, “A Gothic Romance Event” is happening Thursday, Oct. 30, from 3:30–5:30 p.m. in ZSR’s Special Collections & Archives (SC&A) studying room.

Costumes are inspired, and all are welcome to attend! 

Faculty, employees, college students, alumni, pals, and household are invited to affix within the enjoyable by having fun with tales that seize the eerie, mischievous, and mysterious essence of the ghostly season, together with snacks, souvenirs, and a pop-up exhibit of Gothic literature.

“This year’s theme is inspired by our large collection of 18^th and 19^th century Gothic literature, and the event will include a pop-up exhibit of first editions of Frankenstein, Dracula, The Castle of Otranto, Northanger Abbey, and many other classics of Gothic literature,” mentioned Megan Mulder, particular collections librarian and occasion organizer.

Since 2016, SC&A has hosted a whimsical Halloween-themed occasion, with a special theme every year that includes varied displays from the collections.

Mulder continued, “It’s one of many events that Special Collections & Archives sponsors throughout the year. We particularly like it because it gives people a chance to experience our space and our collections outside of a traditional classroom setting.”
