Canada to host G7 Industry, Digital and Technology Ministers’ Meeting in Montréal

The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Industry and Minister accountable for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions, and the Honourable Evan Solomon, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation and Minister accountable for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, look ahead to co-hosting the G7 Industry, Digital and Technology Ministers’ Meeting in Montréal, Quebec, from December 8 to 9, 2025.

Building on the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Alberta—the place leaders adopted the G7 Kananaskis Common Vision for the Future of Quantum Technologies and the Leaders’ Statement on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Prosperity—the ministers are engaged on an agenda centered on fostering financial prosperity and resilience.

Five key areas of collaboration are anticipated to be mentioned on the assembly:

1. Industrial competitiveness, notably within the context of rising market fragmentation and provide chain shocks, with the ministers aiming to facilitate collaboration that enhances productiveness and drives progress throughout the G7
2. Artificial intelligence, with a concentrate on lowering obstacles to AI adoption by small companies
3. Critical rising applied sciences, together with next-generation quantum applied sciences
4. A aggressive and resilient digital economic system, supporting innovation and inclusive progress
5. Supply chain safety to strengthen financial resilience and scale back vulnerabilities

Under Canada’s management on the Kananaskis summit, G7 members agreed to collaborate on important financial and expertise points, reinforcing shared commitments to innovation, safety and inclusive prosperity.
