Spooky enjoyable fills the French Quarter as guests and locals have a good time Halloween

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The ambiance within the French Quarter was spooky Friday as crowds stuffed the streets to have a good time Halloween.

People from all walks of life loved the autumn climate, music and costumes.

Tennessee resident Mary Ayers celebrated her first go to to New Orleans in full Halloween spirit.

“I’m a retired teacher so I’ve celebrated for many years in the classroom,” Ayers mentioned. “I hate growing old, so why be old? I’m going to be young as long as I can.”

At the Apothecary Café, hostess Megan Franklin was making ready for an inflow of ghosts and ghouls over the weekend. It was additionally her first Halloween in New Orleans.

“New Orleans and Halloween — when you think of Mardi Gras, people dress up, they express. This is just a different version of that,” Franklin mentioned.

New Orleans and Company Vice President of External Affairs Kevin Ferguson mentioned resort occupancy is at 90% this weekend.

“Halloween is a great time of year for us both for our residents and for our visitors,” Ferguson mentioned. “These people are going out to eat. These people are going out to shop. These people are going to attractions and museums and experiencing the city in a big way.”

Ferguson mentioned town persistently sees a significant financial enhance between Halloween and Christmas.

“We know that traditionally, once we get through the summer months, tourism picks back up, and Halloween is certainly one of those high marks,” he mentioned. “We know it brings a lot of people to town, fills hotel rooms, restaurants and businesses, and we’re looking forward to a strong rest of the year for tourism as well.”
