Capturing life’s magic: The guts behind CS Photography

For Gippsland photographer Catherine Thatcher, each click on of the digital camera tells a narrative — one among love, household and fleeting moments that need to be remembered eternally.

“I’m a proud mum of three and the heart behind CS Photography,” Catherine mentioned.

“My photography journey began in 2007, capturing weddings — and I quickly discovered just how much I loved it.”

After almost a decade balancing images with a long-time retail administration profession, Catherine took a leap of religion in 2015 to comply with her ardour full-time.

By 2017, she had opened her studio, dedicating herself to new child and household images — a choice she describes as life-changing.

“My family means everything to me,” she mentioned.

“Every time I stroll via our dwelling, I’m surrounded by the new child photographs I

captured of my very own youngsters — their tiny fingers and toes, these candy little expressions, and the tender moments of my husband Lloyd holding them shut.

“Those early days went by so quickly, and I’m endlessly grateful to have those memories preserved forever.”

Catherine and Lloyd share one daughter

and two sons — the inspiration behind a lot of her work.

“Motherhood has been both my greatest joy and my biggest challenge — an experience that constantly inspires the work I do,” she mentioned.

In 2018, Catherine expanded CS Photography to incorporate boudoir periods, marking a significant milestone in her inventive journey.

“That move really helped shape the vision for CS Photography’s future,” she mentioned.

“With my youngest heading off to school in 2022, I’ve been planning the next exciting chapter for our studio.”

Today, CS Photography is a two-woman workforce, with Catherine working alongside her assistant, editor, and second photographer, Kayla.

Together, they bring about heat, professionalism, and creativity to each shoot.

“To say I love my job is an understatement,” Catherine mentioned.

Whether photographing newborns, households, or intimate boudoir periods, Catherine’s method is deeply private and heartfelt.
