60 YEARS AGO 

From 1965 FPS Files

Dr. Keith G. Burgett, Ronald Davis and Atty. John J. Moffett gained the nine-candidate race for the Carrollton Board of Education. Carrollton Village Council winners have been Mary Ann Miller and Ann Green. 

James Noble, a 1974 graduate of Carrollton High School, acquired the Eastern United States regional proficiency award on the forty eighth annual National FFA Convention held in Kansas City, Missouri. 

Other FFA members from CHS attending the occasion included Stefanie Seich, Pat Bryan, Brenda Walters, Jeff Bellamy, Mark Noble, Steve Huffman, Randy Lozier and Annette Beadnell. 

Scoring a landing in every of two first quarters was simply sufficient for the Minerva Lions to win a hard-fought 13-6 battle over the East Canton Hornets.

Fred A. Boggs of Carrollton was elected worshipful grasp of Carroll Lodge 124, Free and Accepted Masons. 

Four college students superior in a Tae Kwon Do karate college taught by Charles Theiss in Carrollton. They included Thomas Anthony, Herbert Wade, Tom Johnson and Theiss. 

30 YEARS AGO 

From 1995 FPS Files 

Incumbents have been unseated in races for Carrollton mayor and clerk/treasurer within the Nov. 7 basic election. C. Rodger Barto unseated Mayor Harold Ok. Laizure, whereas Clerk-Treasurer Betty Davis was unseated by challenger Judi A. Noble. 

Rachel Chapman and Tony Wright, each seniors and four-year members of the Minerva High School Marching Band, shared the Dr. John Mac Snively scholar-musician award. 

The constitution for the Fighting McCook Post 3301, Veterans of Foreign Wars, was granted May 17, 1935, with 56 veterans being constitution members, making 2025 the put up’s ninetieth anniversary. 

The Conotton Valley Rockets blasted off the grid pad by hovering to a 50-0 win over Buckeye Trail, ending the 12 months with a 9-1 report.

Carrollton’s high golfers honored at a banquet included Ben Smith, Tom Parker and Cory Dillon. 

Jeff Fishburn and Chip Henry fashioned Henry & Fishburn Construction. 

10 YEARS AGO 

From 2015 FPS Files 

Carrollton’s incumbent mayor Frank Leghart was defeated by political newcomer William Stoneman, whereas Darla Tipon gained the two-way race with Angela Gonda for clerk-treasurer. 

Bell-Herron Middle School was inundated with zombies, witches and scarecrows throughout Carrollton’s annual Halloween occasion. (Costumed winners are proven within the accompanying photograph.) 

The Carrollton Warriors outscored the Minerva Lions 49-21 within the season soccer finale.
