Big One Art & Craft Fair marks 50 years in Minot

MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) – Set up is underway for the fiftieth 12 months of the Big One Art and Craft Fair in Minot.

The Big One Art and Craft Fair has 4 exhibits throughout North Dakota with greater than 400 completely different exhibitors.

It’s an opportunity for them to showcase their handmade gadgets to 1000’s of people that come by way of the doorways.

Diane Meckle has been a vendor on the similar spot for greater than 30 years.

“The thing that I noticed, it still has that hometown feeling to it,” stated Meckle.

Now nearing her 70s, her sales space has one thing for everybody, from baked items to jewellery and picket crafts.

Organizers Lisa and Stacy Frank took over in 2006 from sisters Lois and Carol. Footage from 1992 exhibits how far the honest has come.

“It’s been fun,” stated Lisa.

“It has, and we have expanded the show to different venues— Fargo, and we added Bismarck,” stated Stacy.

Lisa was once a vendor herself.

“I think it’s amazing that there’s still people today that will make traditional handcrafted items that they were taught in the previous generation or maybe even two generations ago,” stated Lisa.

For the couple, it’s all about seeing the expansion of every exhibitor who walks by way of the doorways.

“When you see these small businesses succeed, whether they have a food product or whatever product it is,” stated Stacy.

For distributors like Meckle showcasing their merchandise, it’s change into a lifelong ardour.

“It’s always just a fun show,” Meckle stated.

The honest is being held on the State Fair Center and prices $5 to get in.

The two-day occasion begins on Friday at 10 a.m., and on Saturday, doorways open at 9 a.m.
