Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day 2025

On the ninth and eleventh November, the council pays their respects and replicate on the sacrifices made by our veterans and repair personnel.

As a part of occasions main as much as Remembrance Day, The Lord Mayor of Westminster, Cllr Paul Dimoldenberg joined volunteers from the Royal British Legion at Marylebone Station to assist their 2025 Poppy Appeal. He gave his thanks for his or her continued work in supporting the poppy attraction by awarding volunteers with their lengthy service awards. 

The Lord Mayor of Westminster, Cllr Paul Dimoldenberg stated:

As first citizen, it will likely be an enormous privilege to characterize the individuals of Westminster at Westminster Abbey on Sunday. In the lead as much as Remembrance Day, I’ve attended a wide range of occasions and was moved on every event by the sensation of everybody there. From veterans to younger cadets, there’s a shared sense of thanks and obligation to those that gave their lives in previous conflicts and provides us our freedoms.” 

“On Tuesday, wreathes will be laid outside Westminster City Hall and across the country just before 11am to mark the moment the guns fell silent. As we pause to think about historic conflicts and those former service personnel who continue to live with the physical and mental scars, it will be a powerful and public way to show our continued thanks.”

The Leader of Westminster City, Cllr Adam Hug, said:

On Remembrance Day we pause to remember those who lost their lives or were injured in past wars. We know that many ex-service personnel continue fighting their own war through physical or mental trauma, and this important day is a way to show our support and pay our respects.”

“Our city has always had a special link with the armed forces as home to defence buildings and famous regiments. We wear our poppies with pride because we can never say too many times that it is the sacrifice of servicemen and women that gives us the freedoms we enjoy today.”
