Fishing is Fun grants accessible for initiatives that enhance angling alternatives in Colorado

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) is worked up to announce the 2026 spherical of funding alternatives for the Fishing is Fun Grant Program. 

The purpose of this program is to offer funding to initiatives that broaden fishing entry throughout the state and supply extra angling alternatives. CPW awards as much as $650,000 in Fishing is Fun grants yearly. 

The Fishing is Fun program helps initiatives similar to stream and river habitat enhancements; entry enhancements; perpetual easements for public entry; pond and lake habitat enhancements; fish retention constructions; growth of latest fishing ponds; and amenity enhancements similar to shade shelters, benches and restrooms.

Recent initiatives embrace: new public fishing areas, in-stream work to enhance fish habitat, ADA-compliant fishing piers, shade constructions and restrooms, diversion constructions to permit migration and spawning, perpetual entry easements to guard angling alternatives, aerators, and boat ramps. 

This program offers matching grant funds yearly to native and county governments, park and recreation departments, water districts, angling organizations, and others for initiatives to enhance angling alternatives in Colorado.

“CPW is always looking to empower partners to take steps to increase or improve fishing access,” mentioned CPW Grant Manager Travis Long. “For nearly 40 years, the Fishing is Fun program has supported 375 angling improvement projects across the state, from the smallest towns on the Eastern Plains and the West Slope to the largest cities along the Front Range.”
