Ideas from the general public result in raids of gaming institutions

SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) – More than 100 slot machines have been seized by the Southern Ohio Organized & Major Crimes Task Force in components of Scioto and Lawrence counties.

Along with the machines, greater than $200,000 was recovered.

It is all a part of a year-long investigation, resulting in raids of three gaming institutions.

The institutions have been the Lucky Dog 7 in South Point, Three Kings in New Boston, and Three Aces in Portsmouth.

“If we have any type of illegal activity, whether it be gambling, drugs, or whatever, we will go after it,” Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman mentioned. ”And these amenities, they prey upon those who have addictions.”

Thoroughman mentioned neighborhood ideas have been a key think about uncovering the playing community.

“The task force was first made aware of it from citizen complaints,” Thoroughman mentioned. “First of the complaints were from the New Boston location, and then it spread to the Portsmouth location and from there they began the investigation after receiving citizen complaints.”

In an announcement, the director of the duty pressure mentioned, “This case is a clear example of what can be accomplished when citizens speak up, and law enforcement agencies work together. The success of this investigation so far is due to the hard work, dedication, and collaboration of everyone involved.”
