Festive Enjoyable Highlights Lander’s Holiday Spectacular and Tree Lighting Ceremony

The holidays are shining somewhat brighter for kids of all ages who attended the annual Lander University Holiday Spectacular and Tree Lighting Ceremony on Tuesday (Nov. 18).

One of the realm’s first celebrations of the season, the occasion featured visits with Santa, candy treats, a vacation maze, picture alternatives and traditional carnival enjoyable, together with a carousel, flying swing rides and a Ferris wheel.

Friendly competitors added to the thrill as college students, employees and campus organizations showcased their creativity in Christmas tree adorning, gingerbread home constructing and vacation banner designs.

Lander public well being college students created angels from tissues for a “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Flu Season” tree, whereas one University workplace discovered the Muppets to be an inspiration for an “Oscar the Grouch” tree, full with Muppet nativity scene. The Grinch and Cindy Lou Who have been stars of a gingerbread home, whereas a gingerbread village featured Santa and his reindeer, together with Lander’s mascots, Mr. and Ms. Bearcat.

At the time of writing, no official announcement had been made on the winners of any of the competitions. However, it’s the opinion of the writer that the Muppet Christmas Tree was the perfect.

The spotlight of the night was the Christmas Tree Lighting, led by Lander President Richard Cosentino and First Lady Jessie Cosentino, assisted by University college students.

Together, the sights, sounds and flavors created a joyful begin to the vacation season at Lander – and a night of enjoyable earlier than remaining exams and graduation ceremonies in December.
