HNOC is happy to deliver collectively photographers Cheryl Gerber and Gus Bennett and HNOC Associate Curator Libby Neidenbach for a particular behind-the-lens dialog in regards to the New Orleans pictures scene within the Nineteen Nineties. Presented at the side of the annual PhotoNOLA competition, the 2025 Jules L. Cahn John H. Lawrence Photography Lecture will discover the period’s avenue pictures scene and photojournalism by the lens of the Times Picayune archive in HNOC’s holdings. At 1 p.m. in HNOC’s Williams Research Center, our panelists will talk about their favourite moments, practices, and tendencies from the time interval. Immediately following the lecture, attendees are invited to a group reception and picture sharing expertise at 520 Royal Street. Following the lecture, from 2 to 4 p.m., attendees and local people organizations are invited to make a journey down reminiscence lane and take part in a communal picture sharing expertise hosted at HNOC’s 520 Royal Street campus. We encourage individuals to dig out and share their previous picture albums, snapshots, and Polaroids depicting New Orleans neighborhoods, Carnival season moments, block events, bars, and different reflections of ’90s-era life within the metropolis.
