The eighth-ranked New York University males’s swimming and diving workforce continued competitors on the Phoenix Fall Invitational in Chicago, IL, on Saturday, November 22. 

The Violets prolonged their first-place lead, ending the day with 1,768.5 factors. They are properly forward of Washington University in St.Louis, which is in second place with 1,229.5 factors.

The night time began sturdy as the 200-yard medley relay (1:27.65) of Teddy McQuaid, Maksym Nechydyuk, Hector Mu, and Greg Wehbe secured first place and an NCAA “Q” minimize. 

Pierce Downs had a record-breaking swim within the 200-yard freestyle, setting a brand new NYU mark of 1:37.61. He took second place and secured an NCAA “Q” minimize.

Five Violets earned NCAA cuts within the 400-yard IM. Nechydyuk (3:49.12) led the best way in first place and notched an NCAA “A” minimize. Conner Dean (3:53.09), Victor Derani (3:53.77), Sebastian Wenger (3:55.94), and Evan Jue (3:56.99) adopted go well with in second, fourth, sixth, and eighth, respectively. 

McQuaid notched two NCAA “Q” cuts, ending first within the 100-yard backstroke and taking second within the 100-yard butterfly (47.57).

“Our men delivered a great session and and we picked up cuts in every event,” mentioned Head Coach Trevor Miele. “Max was outstanding getting the win in the 400 IM. Teddy had a huge night as well, taking second in the 100 fly and coming back to win the 100 back.”

Makai Harder was the highest performer in diving for NYU. He took fourth place and amassed 386.55 factors. 

“This was our first meet doing 11 dives in a big event and it’s the first time our divers did all their hard dives,” mentioned Head Diving Coach Todd Kolean. “The men were pretty good today and I thought Makai was especially good.”
