Wesley Willows residents showcased creativity at 2nd annual Artwork Exhibition

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – From images, work, handcrafted presents and decades-old hobbies, dozens of Wesley Willows residents stuffed the Castle Town Center Auditorium Saturday Nov. 22 for the neighborhood’s second annual artwork exhibition.

Organizer Bob Eiss says the thought got here from wanting residents to share their abilities with one another and the neighborhood.

“I went to the current auxiliary board, and I said, you know, I think it would be kind of fun to have an event where only Wesley Willow residents, could display their talent, or their interest, everything from hobbies to artwork, and photography, there were just so many opportunities,” stated Eiss.

Around 350 individuals attended final 12 months’s present, and Eiss anticipated the same turnout this 12 months.

Joyce Whittington was promoting her handmade angels. She says it’s been her interest for 35 years. Half of the proceeds she acquired go towards the Good Samaritan Fund.

“Each one is different, god didn’t make any of us alike, so my angels are not alike either,” stated Whittington. “It’s nice to have one on hand and then you can take it to a hospital to visit. I also make bookmarks and angels to put in your car to keep you safe,” stated Whittington.

This 12 months’s present grew from 26 exhibitors to 36.

“So, we tried it last year, and it was a smash of success is what it was. So, I decided to try and expand it this year,” stated Eiss.
