Nanooks Place Fifth at Northwest Collegiate Invite

BOISE, Idaho – The Alaska Nanooks swimming workforce formally concluded the Northwest Collegiate Invite on Sunday, putting fifth as a workforce with 754 factors. The Nanooks posted 63 season bests, 22 private bests, 10 top-10 program performances and two NCAA B Cuts through the three days of competitors.

The ‘Nooks had three swimmers within the 200-yard backstroke finals, with McKenzie Fazio and Charisma Watkins competing within the C Final and Mariia Sirotinskaia swimming within the D Final. Fazio positioned nineteenth in her race after posting a 2:07.06 within the finals, whereas Watkins positioned twenty second with a 2:12.13. Sirotinskaia completed in 2:17.91 in her warmth, putting twenty sixth.

Janci Pangburn completed 14th within the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 52.86 in her B Final warmth. Ali Pecore and Fazio completed their C Final in 52:93 and 52:99, respectively, to take nineteenth and twenty first. Talia Wentz led the way in which in her D Final warmth with a 53:23 and positioned twenty fifth.

Dorka Dancsok recorded one other podium outcome when she took second within the 200-yard breaststroke, almost grabbing the win for the ‘Nooks. Her 2:18.81 was 0.68 seconds off of first place and secured one other B Cut on the weekend. Macy Ahrens (2:27.70) took fifteenth and Sariah Rodgers (2:39.23) positioned twenty sixth.

Cosima Schmiedel matched Dancsok’s end along with her personal second-place outcome within the 200-yard butterfly, ending in 2:07.88. Giorgia Merlo led her B Final warmth with a 2:10.13 to safe ninth place, and MacKenzie O’Keefe (2:28.15) and Kaidence Sampsel (2:33.01) positioned twenty fifth and twenty sixth.

Alaska completed seventh and twelfth within the 400-yard freestyle relay, with the workforce of Fazio, Dancsok, Pangburn and Pecore swimming to a time of three:34.37 to put seventh. In the 1650-yard freestyle, Kitti Marton led the way in which for the ‘Nooks, ending eighth with a 17:46.40. Ahrens (seventeenth, 18:22.02), Guielsie Borbon (nineteenth, 18:39.39) and Sirotinskaia (twentieth, 18:46.64) rounded out the occasion for the Nanooks.

Alaska returns to the pool on Dec. 15 for the UNLV Invitational. The three-day invite will probably be their ultimate meet of 2025.
