Seahawks Girls’s Swimming Finishes Fifth at Yellow Jacket Invitational

HAMPTON, Va. – Junior Kelsie Miller (Rockville, Md./Winston Churchill) captured the 100-butterfly as St. Mary’s College of Maryland girls’s swimming claimed the fifth spot on the eight-team Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Randolph-Macon College at Hampton Aquaplex Nov. 21-23. St. Mary’s College tallied 302.5 factors and 10 top-ten finishes for fifth place.
 

Salisbury University claimed the workforce title with 1320 factors adopted by Washington & Lee University in second place with 1157 factors. The Catholic University of America rounded out the Top 3 with 586.5 factors, edging host Randolph-Macon College by 1.5 factors.
 
How It Happened
Sessions I and II (Friday, Nov. 21)

• The highest end of the evening got here from junior Emerson Young (Bel Air, Md./Harford Technical) who tied for third within the 50-freestyle in 24.41. Sophomore Addison Willey (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) tied for nineteenth in 25.33.

• Young, Willey, sophomore Mandy Cartwright (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone), and Miller mixed for a seventh-place end within the 200-freestyle relay in 1:40.64.

• Miller took second within the comfort finals of the 200-individual medley in 2:12.16 for tenth total.

• Friday evening concluded with sophomore Isa Bianco (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville), junior Natalie Canham (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur), first-year Liv Macaluso (Killingworth, Conn./Haddam-Killingworth), and Cartwright taking tenth within the 400-medley relay in 4:22.36.

 
Sessions III and IV (Saturday, Nov. 22)

• Miller notched SMCM’s lone gold medal of the weekend as she touched the wall first within the 100-butterfly in 56.19.

• The foursome of senior captain Venus Kai Judge (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard), Young, Willey, and Miller put forth a seventh-place end within the 800-freestyle relay in 8:14.84.

• Young, Canham, Miller and Willey earned an eighth-place end within the 200-medley relay in 1:51.87.
• Judge notched a 14th-place end within the 400-individual medley in 4:57.54 whereas sophomore Jesse Slingluff (Crownsville, Md./Old Mill) got here in fifteenth in 5:00.85.
• Young paced the Seahawks within the 200-freestyle, coming in Seventeenth in 2:01.01.
• Canham collected the workforce’s finest end within the 100-breastroke in 1:14.13.
• Bianco added a Twenty first-place end within the 100-backstroke in 1:08.47.

 
Sessions V and VI (Sunday, Nov. 23)

• Young posted a fifth-place end within the 100-freestyle in 54.07 whereas Willey positioned Seventeenth in 55.56.
• Miller picked up a sixth-place end within the 200-butterfly in 2:12.03.
• Miller, Willey, Cartwright, and Young got here collectively for a ninth-place end within the 400-freestyle relay in 3:44.58.
• Canham tallied a Seventeenth-place end within the 200-breaststroke in 2:39.46.
• Judge notched an 18th-place end within the 1650-freestyle in 19:09.15.
• In the 200-backstroke, Macaluso completed twenty second in 2:23.27.
