Center for Photography opens ‘Art of the Photobook’ exhibit in Kingston on Saturday – Every day Freeman

KINGSTON, N.Y. — An opening reception for “Time Between Photographs: Art of the Photobook” takes place on Saturday, Nov. 29, from 4 to six p.m. on the Center for Photography at Woodstock’s metropolis headquarters at 25 Dederick St.

The heart’s new group gallery exhibition “is the culmination of two classes held at CPW this year, led by photographer Adrianna Ault,” an announcement stated. “The classes focused on making a photobook, and the exhibition will feature work from both classes, as well as framed prints of images from the books. The artists’ books and photographs on the wall are in various developmental stages.”

The announcement added, “Over the past two years, Adrianna Ault has taught photographers how to integrate creative photobook practice into their work. Her Photobook I and Photobook II courses have revolved heavily around developing photographic work through the physical book form, with the second course incorporating the new CPW Book Press. Making a photobook is an art in itself, in which pairing and sequencing images can change the book’s meaning–this part of the process takes up half of Ault’s classes. Time Between Photographs is an opportunity to see photobooks in various stages of development: some are ‘dummies,’ some more finalized, some fully finished.”

The exhibit is on view by means of Jan. 11. Admission is free.
