The 2025 version of the pictures challenge conceived by the Due Giare Consortium to inform the story of Marmilla and promote its territory is shifting its focus. The new function of “Nine Squares for Photography: Exploring the Territory – Inside the Homes,” curated by Salvatore Ligios , will probably be transferring from streets, countryside, and historic facilities to the intimacy of properties. A complete of 150 pictures by 9 photographers are featured. “We’ve been pursuing this project for years now,” says Lino Zedda, president of the Consortium. “We’ve highlighted public spaces, and this year we’ll focus on private homes.”
The photographers thus narrated the area by coming into the properties of Assolo, Baradili, Baressa, Curcuris, Gonnosnò, Senis, Usellus, Villa Verde, and Villa Sant’Antonio. Starting Saturday, the pictures will probably be exhibited on a touring foundation within the Marmilla delle Due Giare. “Not just the region,” explains Ligios, “but also the homes, depending on the inspiration and style of each photographer. The aesthetic and narrative solutions were different based on the background and experience of each photographer.”
In Assolo, Simone Mizzotti’s images will probably be on show with “Abitare” (Living); in Baradili, Luca Nostri’s “Casa Lavra, Casa Usai”; in Baressa, Manuela Vacca’s “Giochi universali” (Universal Games); in Curcuris, Alexa Vinci’s “Inside the House, Under the Skin”; in Gonnosnò, Alessio Cabras’s “In Bidda No C’est Mai Nudda De Fai” (There’s Never No One to Do); in Senis, Chiara Cordeschi’s “La Restanza” (The Rest); in Usellus, Luigi Corda’s “Notes for Daily Stories”; in Villa Verde, Chiara Caredda’s “Time Is Unstoppable”; and in Villa Sant’Antonio, Pietro Basoccu’s “From Alpha to Omega.” “This traveling format,” Zedda emphasizes, “and the photos will be displayed outdoors to shine a spotlight on certain corners of our urban centers.”
The 150 images will probably be included in a catalog. “A guide for the new generations, a document in its own right,” provides Ligios. “In this context, photography transcends the prejudicial phase for which it was created, becoming a pure photographic document.” The challenge was made attainable because of the contribution of the regional division of Public Education, Cultural Heritage, Information, Entertainment, and Sport.
The inauguration will happen on Saturday, November twenty ninth, at 4:30 pm, on the “Move The Box” cultural manufacturing middle in Villa Verde. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will then happen at Chiara Caredda’s exhibition in entrance of the municipal library. Further displays will happen within the coming weeks, till December thirty first.
