Description:

In the summer season of 1980, Ann Kogen purchased a Nikon FM digicam, some black and white Tri-X movie, and stepped into the world of images. Encouraged by her photographer pal, she realized the strategies of images, studied photographers, and experimented with numerous sorts of cameras. Photography supplied a medium that might permit Ann to specific her lifelong curiosity about folks, tradition, and society. Drawn to the immediacy of road images, she started to doc the actions and variety of individuals on the road. Through her lens, she captured the wonder, chaos, and nuances of on a regular basis life in public areas.

STREET takes viewers again in time by way of a collection of candid road images that seize diversified facets of humanity and society within the early Eighties. Striking black and white images showcase folks on the road, probability encounters, reflections from retailer home windows, graphic partitions, and signage. Captured on the streets of many cities from Chicago, Illinois, to Cairo, Egypt, the timeless high quality of the images evokes a way of frequent humanity, focusing the lens on the shared common qualities of people no matter their many variations. STREET supplies participating photographs that invite viewers to replicate on the methods images shapes our understanding of public areas and the tales embedded inside them.
