Obituary for Sandra “Sandy” Lee (Cale) Shoemaker

Sandra Shoemaker, Uniontown, Pa.

Sandra “Sandy” Lee (Cale) Shoemaker, 84, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, handed away on Friday, November 28, 2025.  She was born on October 12, 1941, in Uniontown, Pa., eldest daughter of Donald Cale and Esther (Cooley) Cale.

A 1959 graduate of German Township highschool, Sandy went on to earn a bachelor’s diploma from Grace College (Winona Lake, Indiana) and a grasp’s diploma from California State College.  She liked youngsters and embraced her job as third grade trainer with pleasure and enthusiasm.  After instructing one yr at Craig Elementary School (Uniontown) and thirty years at Zachariah Connell Elementary School (Connellsville), Sandy retired from the general public college system and later returned to her love of instructing by tutoring at Chestnut Ridge Christian Academy (Uniontown), a non-public college that she had supported in varied roles all through the years.

As a religious Christian, Sandy was very energetic inside her church group.  Her ardour for music was felt by all who heard her play the organ as she blessed worshippers at many various church buildings, together with Grace Brethren Church, Calvary United Methodist Church, and Calvary Baptist Church.  She lent her good pitch alto voice and piano expertise to many Easter and Christmas cantatas.  Sandy taught youngsters and girls in Bible research and often supported missionaries each financially and thru prayers.  She loved ministering to her household and church pals by sending birthday, anniversary, and Christmas playing cards.  An avid reader, she usually shared her books together with her pals.

Sandy was preceded in loss of life by her loving husband, Harold Shoemaker, her dad and mom, and her sister, Lois (Cale) Gundling Justice (of Crisfield, Maryland).  She is survived by her daughter and son, Susan Shoemaker (of Morgantown, West Virginia), and Jonathan Shoemaker (of San Francisco, California).

In reminiscence of Sandy and in lieu of flowers, it’s advised that individuals make donations to mission initiatives that talk to them.

Honoring Sandy’s request, funeral preparations are personal and have been entrusted to DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pennsylvania.
