Fayette County snow day brings households collectively for sledding enjoyable

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Fayette County Public Schools college students wakened Tuesday to a snow day, giving households an opportunity to move outside for sledding and winter enjoyable.

At Stonewall Elementary, households gathered on the hill to reap the benefits of the surprising break day. The Sullinger household was amongst these making recollections within the snow.

“It’s really fun. I really like it,” stated Austin Sullinger, 13.

His mom, Anna Sullinger, who teaches within the district, stated the snow day introduced again childhood recollections.

“It brings back memories for me of snow days of going outside and playing in the snow and just getting to experience sledding and all of those things,” Anna Sullinger stated. “I’m sure if we have a lot of snow days I’ll regret saying that and I’ll want NTI days, but right now today is a good day.”

Austin, who has an 8-year-old brother Anderson, stated he prefers snow days over non-traditional instruction days.

“I just think they are just way better than just being on the computer. It just gives you a chance to just have a break,” Austin stated.

Teacher perspective on snow days vs. NTI

Anna Sullinger stated she will get to benefit from the day along with her kids as an alternative of managing on-line instruction.

“I just get to enjoy this day with my kids and make memories and take advantage of us not sitting at the computer not doing an NTI day,” she stated.

As a instructor, Sullinger stated NTI days require changes. She should put up assignments on-line by 8:30 a.m. and be obtainable to reply questions from 150 college students. She stated NTI is harder for her classroom as a result of most of her classes contain hands-on studying.

“For us in the classroom works best,” she stated.

Austin stated he enjoys the out of doors actions the snow day offers.

“I really enjoy sledding and just being outside,” he stated.

Despite the category cancellations, afternoon and night faculty actions continued as scheduled.
