CULLOWHEE, N.C. (WLOS) — A digital images class at Western Carolina University had hands-on expertise just lately, as its college students restored pictures broken by Helene.

Assistant professor Rebekah Alviani is instructing her first-year images college students the way to do the restoration by means of primary digital enhancing. She tells News 13 she has teamed up with a girl who finds the photographs that must be restored.

She brings them in for restoration with the hope of getting them again to the house owners, Alviani mentioned.

Alviani says each image her class restores has a private story, particularly the older images.

“(The) photographs that are not digital, that are not reprintable…those photographs were taken with intention and for a reason. And so regardless of what it is or who took it, it’s important to someone,” she mentioned.

One of Alviani’s college students is senior Diana Limbo, who mentioned she likes making a distinction in somebody’s life.

“I love capturing pictures that are timeless and are priceless and the fact that I get to restore somebody’s photo that’s truly priceless and means so much,” Limbo mentioned.

The restored pictures are being shared on the Instagram account @photosfromhelene.
