LAKE CHARLES—McNeese girls’s basketball (7-4, 1-1 SLC) returns to motion Monday, Dec. 29 following a 14-day Christmas break.  The Cowgirls will journey to San Antionio, Texas to face Incarnate Word (4-5, 2-0 SLC) at 6 p.m. within the Cowgirls first SLC highway contest of the season.  The sport will stream on ESPN+.

• Enter the sport with a 7-4 total document and 1-1 SLC document.

• It’s the Cowgirls first sport since starting its Christmas break following its Dec. 15 house sport in opposition to NW State

• First convention highway sport of the season for the Cowgirls and first of two video games on this Texas highway journey.

• Have gained 4 of final six video games

• Coming off a 65-58 house loss to NW State on Dec. 15

• All three non-conference losses come in opposition to P4 groups (2 from the Big 12 and one from the SEC).

• Lexi Alexander leads the Cowgirls in rebounds with 5.9 per sport.

• Jalencia Pierre has a group excessive 41 assists (4.1 apg.) and is second on the group with 24 steals.

• The Cowgirls have acquired votes within the College Insider Top 25 Poll 4 instances this season.

• In 2011-12, McNeese ranked 18th within the College Insider Top 25 preseason ballot, the final time McNeese made it to the NCAA Tournament. McNeese ranked 4 different instances in that ballot through the 2011-12 season, rating as excessive as eleventh on Dec. 13, 2011.

• The Ayla Guzzardo period started with a 100- 38 house win over Pensacola Christian College on Monday, Nov. 3, 2025.

• McNeese has 13 newcomers, which ranks tied for fourth most within the NCAA. Three different groups (Northern Arizona, Indiana State, UL-Monroe) all have 14 newcomers.

• Of the 13 newcomers, 9 are D1 transfers which is tied for many within the NCAA this season.

• All 13 newcomers are Guzzardo’s former Southeastern gamers and recruits

• Guzzardo introduced 9 gamers from her 2024-25 Southeastern group and full workers, together with managers along with her to McNeese.

• The 2025-26 roster consists of two-time Southland “Defensive Player of the Year” in Jalencia Pierre.

• Also on the group are two Southland “Freshmen of the Year”- Kaili Chamberlin (2022) and Lexi Alexander (2023).

 

THE OPPONENT

• UIW Enters the sport with a 4-5 total document and 2-0 SLC document

• Are certainly one of two undefeated groups in SLC video games. Northwestern State, who’s off Monday tonight, is atop the SLC standings at 3-0.

• It’s the SLC house opener for the Cardinals and the primary of three straight house video games

• UIW is coming off a 79-68 highway win at UNO on Dec. 18. They defeated Nicholls 54-52 on Dec. 16 in its SLC opener in Thibodaux.

• Hold a 10-7 collection document over the Cowgirls and have gained the final 4 conferences together with each conferences final season

 

 SAME BUILDING-NEW NAME

• McNeese renamed its former house facility (Legacy Center) to the Townsley Law Arena on Oct. 7, 2025, following a 4.5 million greenback, 15-year naming rights deal.  The deal is believed to be the most important basketball naming rights deal within the Southland Conference.  The Townsley Law Firm has been a fixture in Southwest Louisiana since 1995 and is at present the most important medical malpractice legislation agency in Louisiana.
