All nice academics need to exhibit their proficient college students. So, when teacher Daisy Ellis got here to JOY program coordinator Maria Uribe suggesting a showcase evening involving JOY’s efficiency lessons, she couldn’t say “no.”
While the scholars have been excited, too, many weren’t fairly positive they have been prepared for “prime time.” A efficiency evening for family and friends was an excellent answer. As the performances would spotlight the numerous cultures that contribute to the varied types, “Captains of the Cultural Ports of Call” turned the present’s theme.
On Dec. 3, the lights went up on the Murray Nelson Government Center stage and the enjoyable started. The delight of the instructors was palpable as their college students shared their abilities. The viewers clapped alongside and cheered; the scholars’ pleasure in performing shone via.
Thanks to Uribe; Jonelle Kop, technical director; Stephanie Freeman, greeter; Naomi Pagidas, raffle basket designer; Sammy Bleser and all of the instructors; household, mates, volunteers and college students. Much JOY was shared that evening.
