Travel advisories issued for north county municipalities | Information, Sports activities, Jobs

In addition to Chautauqua County, the town of Dunkirk, village of Fredonia and city of Pomfret have issued journey advisories for residents.

City of Dunkirk Police stated “due to worsening road conditions, the City of Dunkirk Police Department, in cooperation with the Mayor’s Office, DPW, and DFD, is issuing a travel advisory until further notice. Non-essential travel is strongly discouraged.”

Hazardous situations, police stated, embody: Strong winds and heavy, blowing snow might trigger drifting, downed bushes, and powerlines.

Fredonia provided this assertion: “Due to deteriorating weather conditions, including slick roads and whiteout conditions, the Office of Emergency Management for the Village of Fredonia and Town of Pomfret are issuing a Travel Advisory. Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel and use extreme caution if travel is unavoidable. Road and visibility conditions may change rapidly. Please monitor official channels for updates.”
