Amyl and the Sniffers’ Amy Taylor Sues US Photographer

Amyl and the Sniffers’ frontwoman Amy Taylor has sued a US photographer for promoting photos as “fine art prints” with out her permission.

Taylor filed the “exploitation of her image” grievance within the Californian district court docket, accusing Jamie Nelson of promoting the photographs, initially taken for a Vogue Portugal photoshoot.

Per the court docket paperwork, the problem started in July 2024 when Amyl and the Sniffers’ supervisor, Simone Ubaldi, reached out to Nelson to {photograph} them for his or her album Cartoon Darkness. The shoot later fell via after they “expressly communicated” to Nelson that they didn’t need her to make use of the band’s title, picture, and likeness to advertise her personal enterprise.

Per the paperwork, Nelson continued to hunt a license from Taylor on a number of events, to which Taylor “rejected each such request, and no such agreement was ever reached”. Filings go on to say that later in September, Taylor found that Nelson was promoting “fine art prints” containing the photographs on her web site, and utilizing the images to advertise her industrial enterprises.

“Not only was this done without Ms. Taylor’s permission and in direct contravention of her wishes, but it appears to have been done in retaliation of Ms. Taylor’s demands that [Nelson] stop their unlawful exploitation of Ms. Taylor’s name, image and likeness for [her] commercial interest,” the paperwork allege.
