BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University males’s swimming and diving crew defeated Bluffton University and Heidelberg University in a tri-meet within the BW Natatorium contained in the Lou Higgins Center.

BW (4-4, 1-2 Ohio Athletic Conference) defeated Bluffton (1-5) in a non-conference meet by a remaining rating of 150-12.  The Yellow Jackets upended Heidelberg (2-6, 0-3 OAC) in an OAC meet by a remaining rating of 125-49.

Individuals

  • Senior Academic All-OAC freestyler Kevin Meyer (Mentor) gained the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:58.33 and the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:22.97
  • Senior stroker Nolan Szuch (Springboro) gained the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:00.41 and the 200-yard particular person medley in a time of two:16.35
  • Junior stroker Michael Gruber III (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) gained the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:37.75
  • Sophomore stroker Danny Murphy (Herndon, Va./South Lakes) gained the 100-yard butterfly in a time 54.92 and of took second within the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.50
  • Sophomore Mason Carnahan (Willard) gained the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:07.47

Diving

  • Freshman Malcom Thompson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) gained the 1-meter and 3-meter with 292.05 and 306.75 factors, respectively

Relays

  • The 200-yard medley unit of Szuch, Carnahan, Murphy and Meyer gained in a time of 1:45.84
  • The 400-yard freestyle squad of Gruber, Thompson, junior stroker Alex Cooper (Columbus/Thomas Worthington) and Hatfield completed second in a time of 4:15.72

BW is again in motion on Saturday, January 17 when it closes out the house portion of its schedule with an OAC and Seniors’ Day meet towards Ohio Northern University at 1 p.m.
