Photographers focus on work in Betty Jean and Wayne Thiebaud Endowed Lecture Thursday

In a dialog format, acclaimed photographers Teju Cole and John Gossage focus on their artwork throughout their look on the 2026 Betty Jean and Wayne Thiebaud Endowed Lecture at UC Davis. 

Cole is a novelist, essayist, and photographer. He was the pictures critic of the New York Times Magazine from 2015 till 2019. He is at the moment the Gore Vidal Professor of the Practice of Creative Writing at Harvard and a contributing author to the New York Times Magazine. The Thiebaud Endowed Lecture is organized by the Maria Manetti Shrem Art Studio Program and co-sponsored by the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art.

The Betty Jean and Wayne Thiebaud Lecture within the Theory, Practice and Criticism of Painting, Drawing and Sculpture celebrates the Thiebauds’ longtime dedication to educating the attention and hand, together with the thoughts. The annual lecture sequence presents practising artists, together with critics, curators, writers, historians, and museum professionals.

Design museum opens exhibition on Village Homes
