Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Splits OAC Meet with Ohio Northern on Seniors’ Day

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University males’s and ladies’s swimming and diving groups closed out the house portion of its schedule because it took on Ohio Northern University in an Ohio Athletic Conference and Seniors’ Day meet within the BW Natatorium contained in the Lou Higgins Center.

The BW males (4-5, 1-4 OAC) fell to Ohio Northern (6-0, 3-0 OAC) by a closing rating of 179-59.  The Yellow Jacket ladies (7-2, 3-1 OAC) defeated the Polar Bears (3-3, 2-1 OAC) by a closing rating of 154-81.

Prior to the meet, the University and the swimming and diving packages honored its 9 senior student-athletes in Ellen Fox (Willard), Morgan Ingalls (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek), Ariel Lisy (Strongsville), Emily Kusar (Perry), Kevin Meyer (Mentor), Nolan Szuch (Springboro), Mallory Upcraft (Oswego, N.Y.), Tyler Warner (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico Academy) and Khloe Willard (Springfield).

Men’s Results

  • Individuals
    • Szuch received the 200-yard backstroke in a time of two:02.40 and was fifth within the 400-yard particular person medley in a season-best time of 4:49.61
    • Sophomore stroker Danny Murphy (Herndon, Va./South Lakes) completed second within the 200-yard butterfly in a time of two:07.55 and took fourth within the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.78
    • Junior stroker Michael Gruber III (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) was the runner-up within the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:21.40
    • Meyer, who is that this week’s OAC Swimmer of the Week, completed third within the 1000-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 11:12.44 and was fourth within the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 53.15
    • Sophomore freestyler Mason Carnahan (Willard) completed third within the 200-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 1:56.58
    • Senior All-OAC stroker Tyler Warner (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico Academy) took fourth within the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of two:34.73

  • Diving
    • Freshman Malcolm Thompson (Pittsburg, Pa./Mount Lebanon) received the 1-meter and 3-meter with 290.25 and 276.40 factors, respectively

  • Relays
    • The 200-yard medley unit of Szuch, Carnahan, Murphy and Meyer completed in fourth in a time of 1:44.59
    • The 200-yard freestyle squad of Gruber, Thompson, junior stroker Alex Cooper (Columbus/Thomas Worthington) and freshman freestyler Xavier Hatfield (North Royalton) took fourth in a time of 1:52.88

Women’s Results

  • Individuals
    • Freshman freestyler Eden Stahlin (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) received the 500-yard in a time of 5:45.17 and the 1000-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 11:49.08
    • Upcraft, who is that this week’s OAC Swimmer of the Week, received the 200-yard butterfly in a time of two:28.62
    • Sophomore All-OAC stroker Brooke Radcliff (North Canton/Hoover) received the 200-yard backstroke in a time of two:16.98
    • Junior stroker Abby Marquardt (Pickerington/Central) was the runner-up within the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of two:38.46 and the runner-up within the 400-yard particular person medley in a career-best time of 5:09.52
    • Junior Academic All-OAC stroker Ashley Slife (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) was the runner-up within the 200-yard freestyle in a time of two:08.70
    • Sophomore All-OAC stroker Amelia Wands (East Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville North) was the runner-up within the 50-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 25.35 and the runner-up within the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 56.86

  • Diving
    • Sophomore All-OAC Makenna Mincey (Brunswick/Magnificat) received the 1-meter with a career-best 303.80 factors and the 3-meter with a career-best 272.65 factors
    • Sophomore All-OAC Emmalie Mitzel (Massillon/Jackson) completed second within the 1-meter with a season-best with 265.75 factors and second within the 3-meter and 222.70 factors

  • Relays
    • The 200-medley crew of freshman stroker Sydney Harbour (North Canton/GlenOak), Marquardt, Radcliffe and Wands received in a time of 1:57.91
    • The 200-yard freestyle unit of Radcliff, Slife, sophomore stroker Addie Darding (Columbus/Upper Arlington) and Upcraft received in a time of 1:47.98

BW closes out the common season when it travels to Cleveland to compete within the Cleveland City Classic hosted by NCAA Division I Cleveland State University in Robert F. Busbey Natatorium at 3 p.m.
